As the Town grows, so does its fleet of equipment and vehicles in all departments. An additional equipment and vehicle storage building has been included in the CIP since 2016 and our needs continuing to grow ever since. The need was further evaluated with the Municipal Complex Space Needs Study completed by Zimmerman. The study indicated that a duplicate sized building is needed to hold the existing fleet and equipment currently stored outside and at off-site storage. The off-site storage building will no longer be available for use after 2027. The storage building will be able to store both existing and future equipment and vehicles, protecting them from weather and UV. Keeping equipment and vehicles indoors, covered, heated, and protected from the elements will lengthen their overall service lives, reduce maintenance costs, and keep them out of severe weather such as hail storms that can cause significant damage. Currently, there is approximately $2 million worth of equipment and vehicles from several Departments that are either permanently stored outdoors or in off-site temporary storage. This includes critical equipment that serves our community in emergency response situations.
