Project Description

Purchase of 10 Tabulators and 10 ADA Ballot Marking Devices, current models are DS200 and ExpressVote. Clerk would review available options and select the most appropriate equipment for the Town. Currently, both types of machines cost around $5,000.

Project Justification

The existing election equipment for the Town of Grand Chute include DS200 tabulators which tabulate votes on Election Day and the ExpressVote ballot marking devices, which are required to be at each polling location to be in compliance with the American Disability Act. The life span of both machines is approximately 10-15 years. The existing machines were purchased in 2017 so the 10-year mark would be 2027. Each year, maintenance is performed on the machines. During the most recent maintenance review the ESS Technician suggested that the Town consider purchasing replacement equipment in FY2029. The Town currently has 9 DS200s and 9 ExpressVotes. To anticipate future growth and/or to ensure backup equipment is available for equipment failures or to deploy during large elections I am requesting the purchase of two additional machines, one of each.
