In response to traffic complaints, the City of Appleton conducted a traffic operations study in 2023 of the STH 47/Ridgeview Dr intersection. The study revealed that traffic volumes are approaching warrant thresholds for signalization and crash volumes already meet the warrant. As part of the I-41 construction project, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will implement temporary traffic signals at this intersection in April 2025. This temporary measure aims to mitigate the expected increase of traffic along STH 47 as a result of the closure of the I-41/Ballard Rd interchange. The temporary traffic signal will establish public expectations for permanent signalization. This temporary signal is also expected to induce traffic on Ridgeview Dr and result in additional signal warrants to be met.
