Project Description
Department-wide transition from Taser model X26P to the Taser 10.
Project Justification
24 of our 44 Tasers are more than five years old and several have been failing during periodic systems checks/inspections. These inspections are conducted to establish the device's serviceability and to ensure confidence that the equipment will function properly in the field. We have delayed replacing these Tasers during the past few budget cycles in anticipation of a conversion to the Taser 10. Taser 10 is a substantially enhanced device that improves range, accuracy, and effectiveness, but it also requires a different deployment protocol and training regimen. As such, we have been preparing for a department-wide transition, so as not to create a situation that involves two distinct less-lethal device and any confusion that might create.
